WB GROUP and Saab are expanding their industrial and research and development cooperation, focusing on projects that will strengthen\u00a0defence\u00a0capabilities and military interoperability across the Baltic Sea region. The agreement\u00a0identifies\u00a0specific areas with the greatest potential for joint industrial and capability development in Poland and Sweden.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On 29 June in Gdynia, during the event\u00a0accompanying\u00a0the Polish Ministry of National\u00a0Defence’s\u00a0signing of\u202fthe\u00a0Orka\u00a0submarine\u00a0programme\u00a0contract, WB\u00a0GROUP and Saab signed an agreement defining key areas of industrial cooperation in the field of unmanned reconnaissance and strike capabilities (C4ISR\u00a0UxS).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Signed alongside\u00a0the\u00a0Orka\u00a0submarine\u00a0programme\u00a0\u2013\u00a0one of Poland’s largest\u00a0defence\u00a0procurement\u00a0programmes\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the agreement reflects the growing strategic partnership between the Polish and Swedish\u00a0defence\u00a0industries, encompassing joint research and development, industrial cooperation, and the delivery of interoperable\u00a0defence\u00a0capabilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this broader framework, WB GROUP and Saab will combine their complementary\u00a0expertise\u00a0in\u202funmanned systems, C4ISR and autonomous platforms to develop capabilities that enhance interoperability\u00a0between the armed forces of Poland,\u00a0Sweden\u00a0and NATO allies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the agreement, the companies will\u00a0focus their\u00a0cooperation\u00a0around\u00a0several WB GROUP solutions, including the GLADIUS reconnaissance and strike system, the Future Task Force manned-unmanned platoon\u00a0concept, and autonomous unmanned surface vessels. A key element of the cooperation will be the\u202fadaptation of the GLADIUS system to meet the operational requirements of the Swedish Armed Forces.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Polish Armed Forces\u00a0were the first to field\u00a0the GLADIUS unmanned reconnaissance and strike system.\u00a0It\u00a0is currently\u00a0in service with\u00a0the 18th\u00a0Mechanised\u00a0Division and other units. During the multinational\u00a0<\/span>Baltic\u202fShield<\/span><\/i>\u00a0exercise, involving the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Denmark, GLADIUS\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0its\u202fability to\u00a0operate\u00a0seamlessly in an allied environment and confirmed full interoperability with NATO systems.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GLADIUS features open architecture and modular design, enabling integration with national C5 systems (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Cyber\u00a0Defence), adaptation to individual operational requirements, and the incorporation of selected components\u00a0\u2014\u00a0such as vehicles\u00a0\u2014\u00a0provided by local industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Its modular architecture and compliance with NATO standards make GLADIUS well suited to the requirements of allied armed forces, enabling users to integrate national capabilities while\u00a0retaining\u00a0flexibility to expand the system over time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The projects pursued under the agreement will\u00a0strenghten\u00a0interoperable\u00a0defence\u00a0capabilities across the\u202fBaltic Sea region and NATO’s eastern flank, strengthening Europe’s\u00a0defence\u00a0industrial base and supporting the\u00a0objectives\u00a0of the European\u00a0Defence\u00a0Project of Common Interest (EDPCI)\u00a0<\/span>Eastern\u202fFlank\u202fWatch<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n
