The Armament Agency has signed a framework agreement with WB GROUP for the delivery of nearly 10,000 WARMATE loitering munitions. This is the largest order for loitering ammunition ever placed worldwide.
The framework agreement, concluded between the Armament Agency of the Ministry of National Defence and WB Electronics — the leading company within WB GROUP — covers the delivery of nearly 1,000 WARMATE loitering-munition sets to the Polish Armed Forces. This is another order for the WARMATE Intelligent Target Engagement System, introduced into Polish Army service in 2017.
On behalf of WB GROUP, the agreement was signed by CEO and owner Piotr Wojciechowski. The Armament Agency of the Ministry of National Defence was represented by its Deputy Head, Colonel Piotr Paluch. The contract is to be completed by 2035 and will include, under subsequent implementation agreements, the delivery of nearly one thousand WARMATE sets in various versions.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz; Secretary of State Paweł Bejda; and Brigadier General Mirosław Bodnar, Commander of the Inspectorate of Unmanned Weapons Systems.
– Today we are signing an important contract — a significant framework agreement for the delivery of 10,000 drones, approximately one thousand sets, to the Polish Army. Implementation agreements will be signed cyclically to ensure the Army receives the most modern versions, said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the signing ceremony. He added that “WB GROUP is widely known and recognised as the best drone manufacturer in Europe today”.
– WB GROUP is a Polish company with startup roots. Today we are a major entity with a strong presence in Europe. We strive to promote Polish technologies and we are European leaders in unmanned system solutions. This is a weapon of the future that should be widely used by the Army at multiple levels, said WB GROUP President Piotr Wojciechowski.
– A Polish company that exports its products is also a major taxpayer. We return 30 percent of every złoty paid to us to the State Treasury in various taxes. The decision to place 50 percent of Army orders in the Polish defence industry is correct, because it drives our economy, he added.
The WARMATE system is designed to detect and strike various types of targets — depending on the selected warhead — including anti-tank (HEAT), high-explosive (HEFI), and thermobaric (TB) variants, both day and night. It is the most widely produced loitering munition in the world and has been positively combat-tested in conflicts of varying intensity.
The Intelligent Target Engagement System entered Polish Army service in 2017, with additional orders placed in 2022. Beyond Poland, it has also been delivered to NATO armies and to other European and Asian users. WARMATE can be operated as a stand-alone system, transported by dismounted soldiers, or integrated into vehicle-mounted weapon systems.
