10,000 Warmates for the Poland

The Armament Agency signed a framework agreement with the WB GROUP for the delivery of nearly 10,000 WARMATE loitering munitions. This is the largest signed order for loitering ammunition in the world.

The subject of the framework agreement, concluded between the Armament Agency representing the State Treasury and the leading company of the WB GROUP – WB Electronics, is the delivery of nearly 1,000 WARMATE loitering ammunition sets to the Polish Armed Forces. This is another order for Intelligent Target Engagement System WARMATE introduced to the armament of the Polish Army in 2017.

On behalf of the WB GROUP, the agreement was signed by CEO and owner Piotr Wojciechowski, while the Armament Agency of the Ministry of National Defence was represented by the Agency Deputy Head, Colonel Piotr Paluch. The contract is to be completed by 2035 and will include – as part of subsequent implementation agreements – the delivery of nearly a thousand WARMATE sets in various versions.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Wiesław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Secretary of State Paweł Bejda and the commander of the Inspectorate of Unmanned Weapons Systems Brigadier General Mirosław Bodnar.

– Today we are signing an important contract, an important framework agreement for the delivery of 10,000 drones, approximately a thousand sets, to the Polish Army. Implementation agreements will be signed cyclically, in order to most often buy the latest version for the army – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the signing. The Minister of National Defense added that “WB GROUP is widely known and widely recognized as the best company producing drones in Europe today”.

– WB GROUP is a Polish company with startup roots. Today we are a large entity that counts in Europe. We are trying to promote Polish technologies. We are leaders in Europe when it comes to systemic unmanned solutions. This is a weapon of the future that should be widely used by the army, at many levels – said President Piotr Wojciechowski after signing the agreement.

– A Polish entity that sells and exports is also a huge tax payer. We pay 30 percent of every złoty that the state treasury pays us in various taxes. The direction of placing 50 percent of the army’s orders in Polish industry is right, because it develops our economy – added the President of WB GROUP.

The WARMATE system is designed to identify and strike various targets, depending on the warhead used – anti-tank, high-explosive or thermobaric, both during the day and at night. This is the most widely produced circulating ammunition in the world, positively tested in combat during conflicts of varying intensity.

The Intelligent Target Engagement System entered the equipment of the Polish Army in 2017, further orders for the Polish Armed Forces were signed in 2022. In addition to Poland, it was also delivered to the armies of the NATO countries, as well as other users European and Asian. WARMATE can be used as a stand-alone system, transported by dismounted soldiers, or as an element of vehicle integrated armament.
