FONET-NAVY system further deliveries

WB GROUP will deliver further FONET-NAVY maritime communication platforms. The system is part of the fleet modernization program of the user country. FONET-NAVY is an on-board internal communication system for ships, which is an extension of the widely used land version. It enables communication between all members of the ship’s crew, broadcasting alarm messages and integrates all radio stations.

The FONET digital communication platform is a vehicle internal communication system used in tens of thousands by dozens of armed forces. In addition to the role of an intercom and integration of internal devices in military vehicles, it also enables control of radios. FONET is manufactured in Poland and in several countries under license abroad, including the United States.

Based on the proven solution, WB GROUP has developed a naval version of FONET-NAVY, unified to the greatest extent possible with the land variant. The first ship communication platform was delivered two years ago and tested with a positive result by the user. The current order includes subsequent tranches of the FONET-NAVY system.

The development of the ship version based on the vehicle version is consistent with the concept of the greatest possible unification of the solutions used, land and sea. This ensures safety, allows for cost control and guarantees continuous and successive maintenance and modernization of the systems used.

Due to the flexibility and simplicity of the FONET-NAVY system, while ensuring sophisticated communication functions, taking into account the susceptibility to easy and quick expansion and modernization, the ship communication platform will be able to successfully serve for decades to come.

The advantage of FONET-NAVY is the possibility of running cabling without connectors, also using existing installations. The devices can be installed in the operator panel housing and on external combat stations. FONET-NAVY is characterized by environmental resistance to sea conditions. The system’s power supply has been adapted to ship conditions.

The ship communication platform FONET-NAVY consists of three basic devices: the central unit, the radio amplifier and operator panels. The central unit enables the connection of up to 30 operator stations, radio communication means and data exchange devices. In the case of ships with large crews, cascading connection of several central units is provided. This allows the system to be used by a larger number of users.

The radio amplifier is a two-channel device used to amplify the power of the internal or external radio station signals or in both networks simultaneously. It enables the broadcasting of messages and signals (including alarm signals) based on loudspeakers in cabins, operating rooms, corridors and on board.

The operator panel is a console with a built-in loudspeaker and microphone. It enables wireless communication at operator stations. Headsets or handsets can be connected to the console at more demanding combat or technical stations. The built-in display and keyboard allow access to various functions.
